Liga MB Round 2: Santa Ana keeps a leadership position

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in Liga MB. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

Santa Ana defeated Brujos at home 121-108. They outrebounded Brujos 46-28 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Santa Ana especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.9 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. 27 personal fouls committed by Brujos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was center Marc Montavious (206-90, college: Georgetown, KY) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points, 23 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 14-of-17 shooting from the field). Shahmel Brackett (183-91, college: UNCP) chipped in 31 points and 10 assists. point guard Jeremee Davis (191-90, college: Georgia Coll.) produced 36 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. Brujos' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Santiagueno at the home court. Hosts were rolled over by Santa Tecla 81-62. Center Carlos Arias (200-89) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. Luis Escoto contributed with 13 points and 4 steals for the winners. American Xavier Eaglin (201-97, college: PVAMU) replied with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds for Santiagueno. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Santa Tecla will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Santiagueno will play again on the road against Santa Tecla to get more than just one victory in their record.
The game in Chalchuapa supposed to be also quite interesting. San Salvador played at the court of Chalchuapa. San Salvador smashed Chalchuapa 169-62 on Tuesday. San Salvador will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Chalchuapa will play against Fantasmas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 2 winless Cojute was crushed by Fantasmas in San Vicente 91-67.



Chalchuapa - San Salvador 62-169

The game in Chalchuapa supposed to be also quite interesting. San Salvador played at the court of Chalchuapa. San Salvador smashed Chalchuapa 169-62 on Tuesday. San Salvador will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Chalchuapa will play against Fantasmas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Fantasmas - Cojute 91-67

There was no surprise in San Vicente where Cojute was crushed by Fantasmas 91-67 on Tuesday. Fantasmas outrebounded Cojute 47-35 including 17 on the offensive glass. The game was also dominated by American players. Guard Sameen Swint (193, college: GBC) scored 29 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Nick Moore (198-91, college: Nyack) chipped in 20 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. Four Fantasmas players scored in double figures. Guard Chris Moten (190-89, college: LA Pierce JC) responded with 25 points and power forward Robert Goodlett (201, college: RMU Springfield) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Cojute's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Fantasmas will meet Chalchuapa on the road in the next round. Cojute will play against Aguila and hope to win that game.
